Whereas a registered nurse (RN) has completed an advanced training program in a medical specialty, a nurse practitioner (NP) can be a primary provider and prescribe medications.

A physician assistant (PA) is a licensed and certified health care professional who practices medicine in partnership with doctors. Similar to a nurse practitioner (NP), a PA can also prescribe medications.

A resident is a physician who has finished medical school and is receiving training in a specialized area like internal medicine. Board certification requires satisfactory completion of a residency program.
A fellow is a physician who has finished medical school plus residency, and is now receiving more sub-specialty training in infectious diseases.
WU ID Clinic has a talented, diverse and experienced group of professionals who provide a variety of services designed to support patients living with HIV/AIDS. Several services are provided by Project ARK staff who are integrated within the clinic to reduce barriers and support retention in care.
