EPIC go-live June 2018

WU ID Clinic, along with all WU School of Medicine clinics and Barnes-Jewish Hospital, went live on a new electronic health record (EHR) called Epic in early June 2018.  The use of Epic incorporates clinical documentation from all areas of patient care into a single database and will provide BJC and WU School of Medicine the opportunity to streamline the number of computer systems required to document care.

WU ID encourages all patients to be set up to access the Epic patient portal, called MyChart.

SYNChronicity conference presentation

WU ID Clinic case manager, Ms. Jamie Reed, presented an abstract and poster at the 2018 SYNChronicity Conference in April. SYNC is an annual, national conference focused on HIV, HCV, and LGBT Health.  The abstract, “HIV and Medical Outcomes for Transgender Women Living with HIV,” summarized evaluation data analysis conducted by Dr. Hilary Reno and several WU ID Clinic staff to clarify challenges experienced by HIV+ transgender women patients.  WU ID Clinic provides HIV care to more transgender women than almost any other provider in the St. Louis region.

Thanks, Jamie, for representing this project at the conference and for sharing what we are learning to improve care for transgender women living with HIV!

Bisexual health article

One of WU ID Clinic’s case managers, Mr. Samati Niyomchai, has published an article in Advocate magazine. Way to go, Samati!

Samati’s article, “The Bi Guide to Doctor’s Appointments” was written in honor of Bisexual Health Awareness Month in March 2016.

Our clinic is committed to culturally competent care, and one of our strengths is having talented staff like Samati who continually push us to improve our HIV-related service delivery.

Help with insurance costs

Don’t let the cost of health insurance keep you from seeing your doctor or filling your prescriptions. Help is available!

The AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) offers help for persons living with HIV/AIDS who cannot afford the cost of their insurance premiums, deductibles, and co-pays for medications and visits.

Clients must be enrolled in the Ryan White system and meet other eligibility requirements for ADAP.

Find out if you are eligible. Call the clinic at 314-747-1206 and ask to speak to a case manager.

Open House – October 8th, 2015

The WU ID Clinic had a very successful Open House on October 8th, 2015, along with the other occupants of our building. Over 115 community members, friends and colleagues from the School of Medicine dropped by to tour the clinic’s brand new location at 620 S. Taylor Ave (63110). Every attendee was able to leave with a door prize including information about our programs, patient care and research opportunities.

We are very thankful to have had such a great turnout for this event!
